EHS Management Representative

Position Overview: The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator is accountable for overseeing all aspects of environmental health and safety (EHS) operations. This role ensures that safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental practices align with or surpass all relevant EHS standards, guaranteeing compliance with applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and all Johnson Electric policies, alongside other industry standards.
- Work in accordance with all relevant Environmental Health and Safety and Quality Management Systems.
- Coordinate inspections and audits of facilities and equipment to identify potential health and safety risks, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Manage all ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications, audits, and follow-up corrective measures.
- Maintain comprehensive records and oversee investigations into work-related accidents, injuries, illnesses, and incidents, providing recommendations to mitigate root causes.
- Address and respond to environmental, health, and safety concerns or complaints.
- Identify the need for and facilitate employee training programs focused on EHS, including accident and fire prevention.
- Develop, maintain, and update emergency response plans and associated equipment.
- Oversee WSIB claims management and Return-to-Work initiatives.
- Coordinate and monitor environmental control measures.
- Manage waste minimization, recycling efforts, reduction of hazardous substances, pollution control, health/safety/environmental training, permits, disposal, and regulatory reporting obligations.
- Stay informed of federal, provincial, and local regulations.
- Keep management updated on health, safety, and environmental activities.
- Act as the Certified Management Representative for the Joint Health & Safety Committee, responsible for all meeting and support activities.
- Update and maintain EHS training materials and presentations.
- Oversee contractor management processes.
- Manage facility security, including access badge systems.
- Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Health and Safety and Environment or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in the Health and Safety and Environmental sector, preferably within a manufacturing context.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
- Prior experience in an ISO 14001 and 45001 environment is preferred.
- Effective communication skills at all organizational levels.
- High integrity and dependability, with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
