Position Overview:

Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. is seeking a skilled Underground Operations Supervisor to oversee our operations at Hemlo.

  • The role involves a rotation of 14 days on and 14 days off.
  • Shifts will alternate between day and night.
  • This position allows for drive-in/drive-out or fly-in/fly-out arrangements for those residing outside the immediate area.

Reporting to the Mine Foreman, the successful candidate will ensure their own safety and that of their colleagues while supervising underground production and development teams to meet the mine's rapid development objectives.

The responsibilities of the Underground Operations Supervisor include:

  • Adhering to all safety protocols and standard operating procedures, acting as a proactive safety leader to prioritize safe production;
  • Providing direct supervision of daily operations, motivating team members, and offering constructive feedback;
  • Coordinating jumbo operations, overseeing the bolt, screen, and boring processes;
  • Managing mucking, drilling, and hauling activities to sustain productivity and meet performance indicators;
  • Conducting daily safety interactions and administrative tasks, mentoring the workforce in best practices;
  • Handover completed development drifts to the production team for subsequent activities;
  • Collaborating with various departments to enhance working conditions and boost productivity;
  • Facilitating the implementation of new technologies and work practices;
  • Compiling production reports;
  • Leading crew meetings to align objectives.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong commitment to safety and the well-being of others;
  • High School diploma or equivalent required;
  • 5-10 years of experience in underground mining;
  • 3-5 years in a supervisory capacity;
  • Experience in rapid development mining is advantageous, particularly with jumbo operations;
  • Possession of Underground Hard Rock Mining Supervisory Common Core certification;
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills;
  • Ability to thrive in a cross-cultural environment.
