Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Supervisor to oversee operations at the Hemlo site, where a significant electrification initiative is underway. This role involves establishing top-tier operational standards supported by an extensive electrical and fiber optic infrastructure.
The position entails a rotation of 14 days on and 14 days off, with a drive-in/drive-out arrangement available for those residing outside the Hemlo vicinity.
Shifts will be continuous day shifts.
Reporting directly to the Project Manager and Maintenance Superintendent, the successful candidate will prioritize safety for themselves and their team while managing the daily functions of the mine's electrical personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and standard operating procedures, ensuring compliance among team members.
- Supervise underground electricians, providing direction and support for daily operations.
- Collaborate with the mining team to minimize equipment downtime and ensure efficient mine services.
- Assist in the implementation and upkeep of tele-remoting systems for both underground and surface operations.
- Support the installation of advanced electrical systems throughout the mining site.
- Offer continuous feedback and coaching to enhance team performance.
- Work alongside the Maintenance Superintendent to control costs and identify areas for process improvement.
- Liaise with client representatives on various projects within the mine.
- Contribute to the design of electrical reticulation for operational levels, including the installation of splitter boxes and pump starters.
- Undertake additional related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to safety and the well-being of others.
- Valid Ontario Provincial Trade License or Inter-Provincial (Red Seal) certification.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in an underground mining environment.
- Completion of the Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core.
- At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Proficient in working with high voltage electrical mining equipment and underground electrical systems.
- Familiarity with Canadian and Ontario Provincial Electrical Codes, as well as CSA M421-00 codes applicable to underground mining.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while being an effective team member.
- Experience in a multicultural work environment.
