Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Underground Shift Supervisor to join our team at the Hemlo Operations.

Reporting directly to the Mine Foreman, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing underground production and development mining crews. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety of yourself and your team while driving efficient operations to meet rapid development targets outlined in the mine plan.

Responsibilities:
  • Champion a strong safety culture by leading by example and prioritizing safe production practices.
  • Provide direct supervision to day-to-day activities, motivating and offering constructive feedback to workers on both production and development crews.
  • Coordinate jumbo operations, including bolting, screening, and drilling processes, ensuring efficient execution.
  • Oversee mucking, drilling, and hauling operations to maintain productivity and achieve client and company key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Conduct daily safety interactions and administration, mentoring the workforce in best practices and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Effectively handover completed development drifts to the production team for stoping activities.
  • Collaborate with various departments to enhance working conditions and optimize productivity.
  • Embrace and facilitate the implementation of new technologies and work practices at Hemlo.
  • Prepare comprehensive production reports.
  • Lead crew line-up meetings, ensuring clear communication and coordination.
Qualifications:
  • Unwavering commitment to safety, both for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years of proven experience in underground mining operations.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a mining environment.
  • Experience with rapid development mining techniques, including bolting, meshing, and drilling cycles using jumbos is highly desirable.
  • Possession of the Underground Hard Rock Mining Supervisory Common Core certification.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a diverse and collaborative work environment.
