Barminco Hemlo - Underground Operations Supervisor

Position Overview:

Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. is seeking a skilled Underground Operations Supervisor to oversee activities at the Hemlo Operations.

  • This role involves a rotation of 14 days on and 14 days off.
  • Shifts will alternate between day and night.
  • Candidates may need to consider travel arrangements if residing outside the local area.

Reporting to the Mine Foreman, the successful applicant will prioritize safety for themselves and their team while supervising underground production and development crews to meet the mine's rapid development objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and standard operating procedures, acting as a proactive safety leader to ensure Safe Production;
  • Provide direct supervision of daily operations, motivating and guiding production and development teams;
  • Manage jumbo operations, overseeing the bolt, screen, and boring processes;
  • Coordinate mucking, drilling, and hauling tasks to optimize productivity and meet performance indicators;
  • Conduct daily safety interactions and administrative tasks, mentoring staff in best practices and promoting high standards;
  • Handover completed development areas to the production team for subsequent activities;
  • Collaborate with various departments to enhance working conditions and boost productivity;
  • Facilitate the implementation of new technologies and work practices;
  • Prepare production reports;
  • Lead crew meetings to align on objectives;

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to safety and the well-being of others;
  • Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent;
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in underground mining;
  • A minimum of 3-5 years in a supervisory capacity;
  • Experience in rapid development mining is advantageous, particularly with jumbo operations;
  • Completion of Underground Hard Rock Mining Supervisory Common Core;
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management abilities;
  • Capability to work effectively in a diverse cultural environment;
