Position Overview:
The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee operations at our state-of-the-art wire cut cookie facility in Kitchener, ON, which produces an impressive 17 million cookies weekly. This facility is characterized by its highly automated production lines and a collaborative team-oriented environment. Kitchener-Waterloo offers an ideal living and working atmosphere, blending green spaces with vibrant urban life, making it a perfect community for families, retirees, students, and young professionals alike.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead maintenance teams, ensuring adherence to safe work practices and addressing any safety concerns promptly. Conduct thorough incident investigations and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks. Participate in workplace inspections and audits to enhance safety standards.
  • Provide necessary training and orientation to maintain an effective workforce. Oversee formal training programs and confirm completion of training requirements.
  • Ensure all maintenance operations comply with food safety standards, including adherence to HACCP plans and BRC requirements.
  • Direct the maintenance team in preventive maintenance and repair of production equipment, utilizing maintenance planning and work order systems effectively.
  • Foster a results-driven environment by motivating the team to meet or exceed performance targets.
  • Utilize information tools to identify opportunities for improving line efficiency and addressing downtime causes.
  • Conduct detailed investigations for significant deviations from production targets.
  • Manage maintenance deliverables related to the planning, assessment, installation, and testing of new equipment and methods.
  • Maintain a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication with all team members.
  • Provide timely and constructive performance feedback to team members, documenting as necessary.
  • Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new employees.
  • Ensure accurate attendance records and address any attendance-related issues.
  • Resource shifts to guarantee availability for rotating shifts, including weekends in a 24/7 operational environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing plant maintenance, preferably in food production.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance inventory management.
  • Ability to anticipate needs and take ownership of tasks.
  • Demonstrated multitasking abilities in a fast-paced production setting.
  • Proficient in organizing and delegating work effectively.
  • Willingness to learn and share knowledge to foster growth.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and embrace change.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Effective communication skills that inspire and motivate team members.
  • Ability to collaborate with various departments to achieve alignment on issues.
  • Proficient in computer applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience in structured maintenance planning and scheduling.
  • Licensed Millwright or Electrician preferred.
  • High school diploma required; college or university degree is an asset.
