Position Overview: The selected candidate will play a vital role in the development of resources aimed at enhancing the educational experience for all courses within the second year of the Hydrogen Technician program. Responsibilities will encompass teaching students, facilitating educational experiences, and assessing student performance through effective planning, organization, and management of learning activities in both classroom and practical environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adapt personal teaching methodologies to lesson plans by employing diverse instructional strategies, techniques, and educational models to achieve defined learning outcomes and fulfill course objectives.
  • Set student performance goals and evaluation criteria, meeting with students regularly to assess progress and address any challenges in the learning process.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, tailored to the students' comprehension levels, while fostering a supportive and emotionally safe learning atmosphere through proper classroom management in accordance with institutional policies.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated in the field and the post-secondary education sector.
  • Contribute actively to accreditation processes to uphold the program's quality standards.
  • Deliver both theoretical and practical components of all designated courses.
  • Undertake additional related responsibilities to ensure the maintenance of high-quality, learner-centered instruction.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Proven knowledge and experience in the Chemical or Petroleum Process Operations sector.
  • A solid understanding of instructional methods and classroom management techniques.
  • Strong communication, analytical, conflict resolution, and organizational capabilities.
  • The ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team, while fostering effective working relationships in an educational context.
  • A demonstrated commitment to strategies and initiatives that promote student success.

Educational Background: The required expertise and skills are typically acquired through:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Chemical, Petroleum, or Process) or an equivalent qualification, supplemented by two years of recent, relevant industry experience; or
  • A diploma in Chemical, Petroleum, or Process Engineering Technology, complemented by a Bachelor of Technology Degree or a Bachelor of Engineering Technology Degree with a focus in the relevant subject area, along with four years of recent, relevant industry experience.
  • A Bachelor of Education Degree (Post-Secondary or Secondary), instructor training, and experience teaching at the post-secondary level will be considered advantageous.
  • Professional Designation or eligibility for membership in a professional association will also be regarded as beneficial.
  • Additional assets may include operational experience in a petroleum refinery setting, 4th Class Power Engineering certification, and familiarity with hydrogen or ammonia production systems.

Compensation: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, in accordance with the College of the North Atlantic Faculty Collective Agreement.
