Mining Engineering Instructor

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly qualified Mining Engineering Instructor to join our team at the College of the North Atlantic. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching students in the mining engineering technology program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver course materials, including lesson plans and instructional strategies, to achieve specified learning outcomes and meet course objectives.
- Evaluate student progress and provide feedback to students, using established evaluation methods and meeting with students regularly to gauge and evaluate progress.
- Communicate effectively with students, using language and terminology appropriate to the ability of students, and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Participate in professional development activities to remain current in the field and post-secondary education profession.
- Contribute to accreditation activities to ensure the program meets the highest standards.
- Deliver theory and practical components of all courses outlined.
- Perform other related duties consistent with maintaining quality learner-centered instruction.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the mining industry.
- Have an understanding of methods used to teach course concepts and classroom management.
- Have effective communication, analytical, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in a teaching environment.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to student success strategies and initiatives.
Required Education and Experience:
- Completion of a bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering.
- A minimum of five years recent relevant work experience in the mining sector as a Mining Engineer.
- A Bachelor of Education Degree (Post-Secondary or Secondary), instructor training, experience teaching at the post-secondary level, and basic computer literacy skills including work with MS Office and pdf documents will all be considered assets.
- Training in Brightspace and teaching experience in an online learning environment will also be considered assets.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with College of the North Atlantic Faculty Collective Agreement.
