Hydrogen Technician Program Instructor

Job Summary:

The College of the North Atlantic is seeking a highly qualified and experienced instructor to teach in our Hydrogen Technician Program. As a key member of our faculty team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and training to students in the field of chemical process operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans and instructional materials to support the delivery of all courses included in year two of the Hydrogen Technician program.
  • Instruct students in both classroom and shop settings, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies and techniques to achieve specified learning outcomes and meet course objectives.
  • Evaluate student progress and identify areas for improvement, providing regular feedback and support to students.
  • Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and other stakeholders, maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current in the field and contribute to the accreditation process to ensure the program meets the highest standards.
  • Deliver theory and practical components of all courses outlined, ensuring students gain the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the field.
  • Perform other related duties consistent with maintaining quality learner-centered instruction.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the chemical or petroleum process operations field.
  • Have an understanding of methods used to teach course concepts and classroom management.
  • Have effective communication, analytical, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in a teaching environment.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to student success strategies and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Chemical, Petroleum, or Process) or equivalent degree supplemented with 2 years' recent, relevant industry experience; or
  • Completion of a diploma in Chemical, Petroleum, or Process Engineering Technology supplemented with a Bachelor of Technology Degree or a Bachelor of Engineering Technology Degree with concentration in the subject area and 4 years' recent, relevant industry experience.
  • A Bachelor of Education Degree (Post-Secondary or Secondary), instructor training, experience teaching at the post-secondary level will be considered assets.
  • Professional Designation or eligibility for membership in a professional association will also be considered assets.
  • Additional assets may include: operator experience in a petroleum refinery environment, 4th Class Power Engineering certification, experience with hydrogen or ammonia production systems.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with College of the North Atlantic Faculty Collective Agreement.
