Job Summary:

The College of the North Atlantic is seeking a highly qualified instructor to teach in the Mining Engineering Technology program. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering theory and practical components of all courses outlined, as well as establishing student performance objectives and evaluation methods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement instructional strategies, techniques, and learning models to achieve specified learning outcomes and meet course objectives.
  • Communicate effectively at a level appropriate to the ability of students and support an emotionally safe learning environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Participate in professional development activities to remain current in your field and post-secondary education profession.
  • Contribute to accreditation activities to ensure the program is of the highest standard.
  • Perform other related duties consistent with maintaining quality learner-centered instruction.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the mining industry.
  • Have an understanding of methods used to teach course concepts and classroom management.
  • Have effective communication, analytical, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in a teaching environment.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to student success strategies and initiatives.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering.
  • A minimum of five years recent relevant work experience in the mining sector as a Mining Engineer.
  • A Bachelor of Education Degree (Post-Secondary or Secondary), instructor training, experience teaching at the post-secondary level, and basic computer literacy skills including work with MS Office and pdf documents will all be considered assets.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with College of the North Atlantic Faculty Collective Agreement.
