Position Overview

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in delivering quality nursing care under the supervision of the Patient Care Manager. This position is responsible for providing professional nursing services to assigned patients, which includes independent nursing duties, administering prescribed treatments, collaborating with the healthcare team, and assisting in the coordination of patient care and discharge processes. The LPN is expected to embody the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the healthcare facility.

Experience Requirements
  • Recent experience in the relevant clinical area is preferred.
Educational Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program is mandatory.
Licensure and Certification
  • Certification in IV Therapy and IV Medication Administration is required.
  • Must maintain active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM).
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training must comply with employer policies.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Knowledge of:
    • Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics as set by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba.
    • Scope of practice as defined in the Licensed Practical Nurses Act.
    • Facility policies, procedures, and guidelines.
    • Nursing care principles relevant to the clinical area.
    • Legislated acts such as the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS).
    • Roles and responsibilities within the healthcare team.
    • Delegation principles.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with proficiency in Indigenous languages or knowledge of Indigenous customs and values.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to prioritize care for individual or groups of patients.
  • Ability to delegate care effectively and monitor the outcomes.
  • Capability to manage multiple demands simultaneously.
  • Commitment to self-development and continuous learning.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
  • Adaptability to changing situations and environments.
  • Ability to maintain focus in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.
Physical Demands
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort is required.
  • Availability for rotating shifts and weekends may be necessary.
