Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Project Coordinator (Special Projects) who will report directly to the Project Manager, Special Projects. This role is crucial for estimating, planning, and executing a significant number of short-term projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed cost estimates and quotations in response to project inquiries.
- Conduct site assessments to identify potential construction challenges, safety risks, and operational needs.
- Participate in site meetings with various stakeholders as necessary.
- Prepare essential documentation for project scheduling and mobilization.
- Work collaboratively with the operations team and both internal and external resources.
- Gather all necessary information to submit utility locate requests and maintain validity before work commencement.
- Conduct regular check-ins with Foremen before and after job transitions.
- Address on-site issues with support from the Project Manager and communicate any incidents promptly to maintain workflow and project objectives.
- Perform forecasting to ensure appropriate resource allocation for both short and long-term needs.
- Maintain organized project folders with all relevant documentation, including email communications and site photographs.
- Manage multiple short-term projects simultaneously.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned.
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering and/or Construction Management.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a construction setting (including co-op or internships).
- Excellent communication skills with a results-driven approach and effective problem-solving capabilities.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and able to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
- Proven time management, scheduling, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and quick to learn new technology platforms.
- Possession of a clean driving record and a valid G driver's license.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends on an as-needed basis.
- Additional assets include knowledge of Canadian Construction Labour Laws & Codes, prior experience in a project coordinator role, exposure to MTO projects, and familiarity with Jonas Software.
