Position Overview
The Converting Supervisor is tasked with the comprehensive management and oversight of the Converting Department, focusing on performance outcomes, productivity goals, continuous improvement strategies, occupational health and safety, and employee relations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the management of the converting department, which includes printing, rewinding, and converting machinery across various shifts.
- Plan, supervise, and direct daily production activities while proactively addressing potential production challenges, such as material shortages, equipment failures, and personnel issues.
- Primarily responsible for mentoring and developing team members.
- Engage in the selection and interview processes for hourly employee positions.
- Conduct employee evaluations and maintain training and performance records.
- Initiate cost-reduction efforts and promote continuous improvements in processes or equipment.
- Lead and supervise departmental safety and cleanliness practices, maintaining vigilance for hazardous conditions.
- Educate employees on and enforce company policies and regulations, including safety protocols, production standards, and quality expectations.
- Assist human resources with disciplinary actions as needed.
- Participate in company-sponsored initiatives such as training, site projects, and safety programs.
- Manage production-related administrative duties, including payroll hours approval and reporting tasks.
- Ensure quality service by upholding quality and customer service standards.
- Contribute to team objectives by achieving related results as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required; a bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in managing and developing teams within a manufacturing setting in a leadership capacity is required.
- Experience in a similar manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of making sound decisions.
- Excellent organizational skills and the capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment are required.
- Proven leadership skills with a history of achieving results.
- Able to navigate ambiguity and effectively manage change.
- A dedicated team player who collaborates well across functions.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly in MS Office with an emphasis on Excel, are advantageous.
- Experience in lean manufacturing practices is a significant asset.
