Position Description

Title: Beaming Department Supervisor

Department: Beaming

Status: Vacant

Position Purpose: The Beaming Department Supervisor is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the Beaming Department, including performance outcomes, productivity targets, continuous improvement initiatives, and employee relations. This role also supports Health and Safety activities for the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Beaming department, consisting of four beamers and the Milner, across multiple shifts.
  • Oversee inventory management, including tape, beams, barrel inventory, and maintenance.
  • Implement waste control measures, including rejects.
  • Maintain side loaders and creel maintenance.
  • Plan, supervise, and direct daily production operations, anticipating and alleviating production problems, such as material shortages, equipment malfunctions, and employee-related situations.
  • Coach and develop the team.
  • Participate in the selection and interview processes to fill hourly employee positions.
  • Conduct employee reviews and maintain training and performance documentation.
  • Initiate efforts to introduce cost reductions and drive continuous improvements in methods or equipment.
  • Supervise and lead departmental safety and housekeeping practices, maintaining a constant alert for hazardous conditions.
  • Educate employees and enforce company rules and regulations, including safety rules and regulations, policies, and procedures, production, and quality expectations.
  • Manage hourly employee performance, including administering discipline where necessary.
  • Lead and participate in company-sponsored activities, such as training, site projects, and safety programs.
  • Manage production-related administrative tasks, including payroll hours approval, reporting, and associated tasks.
  • Provide quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Plant coordinator for Emergency Preparedness Team, ensuring emergency response plans are continually reviewed and updated for the facility.
  • Track and report all KPIs related to safety within the facility.
  • Lead safety orientations for all new hires to the facility.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in engineering, science, or business preferred.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience with a textile manufacturer, or a combination of education and supervisory experience in a similar industry.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with demonstrated skills in making sound decisions, are critical.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment are required.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to achieve results, are necessary.
  • Able to deal with ambiguity and successfully manage change will be critical.
  • A dedicated team player who works well cross-functionally.
  • Solid computer skills, including MS Office, with a focus on Excel, would be an asset.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing is a strong asset.
