Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Supervisor to join our team at Intertape Polymer Group (IPG). As a key member of our Beaming Department, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our production team, ensuring high-quality products, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Department Management: Supervise and manage the Beaming Department, including four beamers and the Milner, across multiple shifts.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory levels of tape, beams, and barrels, ensuring timely replenishment and minimizing waste.
  • Waste Control: Implement and monitor effective waste control measures, including rejects, to optimize production efficiency.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Oversee maintenance and repairs of side loaders and creel equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Production Planning: Plan, supervise, and direct daily production operations, anticipating and resolving production problems, such as material shortages, equipment malfunctions, and employee-related issues.
  • Team Development: Coach and develop team members, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Employee Relations: Participate in the selection and interview process for hourly employee positions, conduct employee reviews, and maintain training and performance documentation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for cost reductions and drive continuous improvements in methods or equipment, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Safety and Housekeeping: Supervise and lead departmental safety and housekeeping practices, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Quality and Customer Service: Educate employees on quality and customer service expectations, enforcing company rules and regulations, and providing quality service to internal and external customers.
  • Administrative Tasks: Manage production-related administrative tasks, including payroll hours approval, reporting, and associated tasks.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Serve as the plant coordinator for the Emergency Preparedness Team, ensuring emergency response plans are reviewed and updated regularly.
  • Safety Orientations: Lead safety orientations for new hires, ensuring they understand company safety policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary education in engineering, science, or business is preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment, with a combination of education and experience in a similar industry considered.
  • Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills, solid analytical and problem-solving skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to achieve results, ability to deal with ambiguity, and successfully manage change.
  • Computer Skills: Solid computer skills, including MS Office, with a focus on Excel, and experience in lean manufacturing is a strong asset.
