Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Manager of Medical Device Reprocessing, the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) undertakes essential tasks to ensure the provision of safe surgical instruments. Responsibilities include:

  • Retrieving, disassembling, and decontaminating surgical equipment.
  • Conducting inspections and function tests on medical devices.
  • Assembling, packaging, sterilizing, and distributing reprocessed patient care equipment.
  • Documenting all processes in compliance with Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and departmental policies.
Work Schedule

Shifts will be assigned based on a rotational schedule in a 24/7 operational environment.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required.
  • Completion of a recognized MDR Technician course is necessary; candidates without this qualification may be considered if they agree to enroll within 18 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is essential.
  • Prior experience in sterile processing is preferred.
  • MDR Certification is an asset.
  • Experience with Operating Room and/or laparoscopy instrumentation is advantageous.
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work independently are required.
  • Team collaboration skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is beneficial.
