The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Device Reprocessing Technician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a key member of our Sterile Processing Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient processing of medical devices and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Retrieve, disassemble, decontaminate, inspect, function test, assemble, package, sterilize, handle, store, and distribute reprocessed hospital patient care equipment and surgical instrumentation.
  • Document all processes in accordance with Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless processing and delivery of medical devices and equipment.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance processing efficiency and patient safety.
Requirements:
  • Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Recognized MDR Technician course required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Previous sterile processing experience preferred.
  • MDR Certification preferred.
  • Operating Room and/or laparoscopy instrumentation/cidex OPA scope processing experience an asset.
  • Responsible, dependable, able to take initiative, and sound decision-making skills required.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Competency in other languages an asset.
