Position OverviewThe Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficacy of surgical instruments. Reporting to the Manager of Medical Device Reprocessing, the MDRT is responsible for:
- Retrieving, disassembling, and decontaminating surgical equipment.
- Conducting thorough inspections and function tests on medical devices.
- Assembling, packaging, and sterilizing reprocessed equipment.
- Documenting all procedures in compliance with established standards and protocols.
This position requires adherence to Canadian Standards Association (CSA) guidelines, departmental policies, and best practices for infection prevention and control.
Work ScheduleShifts will be assigned based on a rotation in a 24/7 operational environment.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or G.E.D. is mandatory.
- Completion of a recognized MDR Technician course is required; candidates without this certification may be considered if they are willing to enroll within a specified timeframe.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology is essential.
- Previous experience in sterile processing is preferred.
- MDR Certification is an asset.
- Experience with operating room instrumentation is beneficial.
- Dependability, initiative, and sound decision-making skills are crucial.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team is required.
- Proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
