Position Overview

The Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) is responsible for ensuring the safe provision of surgical equipment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Retrieving, disassembling, and decontaminating surgical instruments.
  • Conducting inspections and function tests on medical devices.
  • Assembling, packaging, and sterilizing equipment.
  • Documenting all processes in compliance with relevant standards and guidelines.

This role requires adherence to Canadian Standards Association (CSA) protocols, manufacturer's instructions, and departmental policies.

Work Schedule

The position involves working various shifts in a 24/7 environment.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required.
  • Completion of a recognized MDR Technician course is necessary; applicants without this qualification may be considered if they agree to enroll within 18 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is essential.
  • Prior experience in sterile processing is preferred.
  • MDR Certification is an asset.
  • Experience with Operating Room and/or laparoscopy instrumentation is advantageous.
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work independently are required.
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
