Director of Development, Libraries and Cultural Resources

The University of Calgary is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development to lead our strategic development initiatives. As a key member of the Development and Alumni unit, you will play a critical role in advancing the University's mission to make a transformative contribution to the city, the region, the country, and the world.

About the Role
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to engage sponsors and donors in the development program
  • Build and cultivate relationships with donors, alumni, corporations, foundations, community leaders, and volunteers
  • Recruit, train, support, and motivate volunteers, staff, and faculty to assist with fundraising activities
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant University policies and procedures
  • Work with the Advancement Office to integrate and coordinate fundraising planning and execution with that of the University as a whole

Requirements
  • A university degree in a related field, preferably in Communications, Library Science, or a Master of Library & Information Science
  • At least 7 years of fundraising experience, with a proven track record of closing and managing complex gifts
  • The ability to coach and train academic leadership in the area of fundraising
