Job Description

Job Title: Director, Human Resources

Job Summary:

The Director, Human Resources is a key member of the H&R Block Canada leadership team, responsible for developing and implementing strategic HR initiatives that drive business success. This role requires a seasoned HR professional with a strong track record of talent management, performance enhancement, and organizational development.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Corporate Culture: Collaborate with the HR team to foster a connected corporate culture that aligns with H&R Block Canada's values of We Care, We Trust, We Connect.
  • Human Resources Strategy: Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive HR strategy that supports business objectives and enhances the employee experience.
  • Training and Development: Drive training strategies for all employees, including best practices, content, and agile delivery methods.
  • DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging): Enhance H&R Block Canada's commitment to DEIB by developing and implementing initiatives that promote a culture of inclusion and respect.
  • Talent Management: Collaborate with business leaders to evaluate, cultivate, maintain, and acquire the necessary talent to meet business needs.
  • Succession Planning: Lead, coach, and support the team to provide growth opportunities for high-potential individual contributors and people leaders.
  • Alignment and Compliance: Establish and implement a consistent approach to employment records to ensure compliance with labor laws.
  • Recruitment and Retention: Develop exceptional sourcing, recruitment, recognition, onboarding, and retention strategies to ensure outstanding customer experience.
  • Communication: Establish effective communication channels from the HR department to the entire organization, ensuring consistent and transparent messaging.

Key Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field in Human Resources, Adult Education, or a similar discipline and a minimum of 15 years of experience in various HR areas, with at least 10 years in people management and agile learning delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing HR strategies that align with strategic business needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the company in legal matters, specifically in Quebec and Ontario.
  • Excellent English and French verbal and written communications skills.
  • Possesses strong personal leadership qualities and demonstrates a solid understanding of business operations.
  • Forward-thinking mindset and the ability to positively influence and drive organizational change.
  • Capable of partnering with and influencing senior leaders, as well as building relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Committed to delivering excellent HR services and operational excellence.
