About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Employee Relations, Health and Wellness to join our team at Sheridan College. As a key member of our HR department, you will play a pivotal role in creating a culture of innovation and collaboration by fostering strong employee and labour relations, and overseeing health and wellness programs that enhance the well-being and safety of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of HR specialists and partner with union representatives to ensure workplace practices are equitable and adaptable to the evolving needs of employees and the institution.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote a healthy, inclusive, and engaging environment where collaboration thrives in support of our strategic goals.
  • Investigate and resolve complex workplace issues, providing strategic advisory, coaching, and mobilizing action to engage teams.
  • Negotiate, mediate, and develop inclusive policies, as well as strategic planning, project management, and business acumen, including budgeting and complex report writing.
Requirements
  • Hold a degree or diploma in a related field and bring a wealth of expertise in navigating complex workplace dynamics, preferably in the public sector.
  • Strong foundation in labour contracts, legislation, and current trends in labour/management issues, demonstrating the ability to balance workplace equity, management rights, and the employee experience.
  • Leadership marked by expertise in investigations, strategic advisory, coaching, and mobilizing action and engaging teams.
  • Extensive experience in negotiations, mediation, dispute resolution, and developing inclusive policies, alongside a proven track record in strategic planning, project management, and business acumen, including budgeting and complex report writing.
