Limited-Term Faculty Appointment in Social Psychology

McMaster University, situated on the ancestral lands of the Haudenosaunee and Mississauga Nations, is seeking candidates for a full-time, limited-term faculty role within the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Role Description
We invite applications for a contractually limited position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Social Psychology Program. This role will involve teaching a variety of undergraduate courses that delve into the intricacies of social psychology.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a specialization in social psychology, psychology, or a closely related discipline that enhances the Social Psychology Program. Areas of focus may include, but are not limited to, the social psychology of mental health, interpersonal relationships, and organizational psychology.
The ideal candidate will hold or be nearing completion of a PhD in social psychology or a related field by the time of appointment. A proven track record of teaching excellence and a commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive academic environment are essential. Experience in supervising undergraduate research projects and previous service engagement will be considered advantageous.
Teaching Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for instructing seven undergraduate-level courses within the Social Psychology Program. Key courses may include:
- Psychology of Well-Being
- Psychology of Close Relationships
- Industrial/Organizational Psychology
- Mental Health
Additionally, the candidate will oversee the Level 4 Social Psychology Research Project (Capstone) course, which involves guiding approximately 20 group-based research projects, both qualitative and quantitative in nature.
