Position Overview
The Faculty of Social Sciences at McMaster University is seeking applications for a full-time, one-year Limited-Term Academic Appointment (LTA) at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor in the Department of Health, Aging & Society, situated on the main university campus.
Candidates should possess the capability to instruct social sciences courses that integrate various aspects of gerontology, aging studies, and health studies, along with a proven understanding of research methodologies pertinent to the social sciences.
The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in a relevant discipline within the Social Sciences, or possess a specialization in the Social Sciences, preferably with a focus on health and/or aging, or a related field, by the time of appointment.
Furthermore, applicants must exhibit a track record of teaching excellence and a commitment to fostering a collegial and collaborative intellectual environment, as well as contributing to the university's overarching goals of inclusive excellence.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses, typically encompassing seven 3-unit courses across two terms, which may include large introductory classes and some evening offerings.
