Position Overview: The Signals Intelligence Specialist plays a crucial role in intercepting and analyzing electronic communications, including foreign transmissions. Members of the Reserve Force typically engage in training with their unit for one evening each week and two weekends each month, ensuring a balance between military obligations and personal commitments.
Training and Responsibilities: At 21 Electronic Warfare Regiment, initial training focuses on fundamental military skills, followed by a specialization in tactical Electronic Warfare. After completing basic training, candidates will acquire additional soldier, driver, and communication skills. They will learn to collect, process, analyze, and report on electromagnetic activities across radio frequencies, utilizing advanced equipment in a structured military environment.
Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents aged between 16 and 53, willing to undergo both physical and theoretical training. The training program for SIGINT Specialists requires a commitment of at least 6 months for full-time training within the first three years of service. This schedule is designed to accommodate the availability of both Post-Secondary and Senior High School students, making it accessible to various individuals, including those in the gig economy or those seeking employment.
Career Opportunities: Upon successful completion of training, candidates will have the opportunity to apply for positions domestically or for deployments internationally. They may also transition to full-time roles within the regular force or leverage their skills in other sectors. Information sessions are conducted regularly to provide insights into the various roles available.
