Your Role:
As a pivotal member of the UTM Career Centre, you will be instrumental in guiding students through their career journeys. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Employer Relations and Marketing, your primary focus will be to enhance the employer experience within a designated portfolio of industries seeking to engage with our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain regular professional communication with employers across diverse industry sectors, ensuring their immediate and long-term recruitment needs are met.
- Oversee the planning and execution of significant Career Centre events, including career fairs, recruitment sessions, panels, and networking opportunities.
- Develop and nurture relationships with key stakeholders and strategic partners.
- Identify and cultivate connections with potential and existing employers.
- Stay informed about best practices in student placement and work-integrated learning initiatives.
- Design, organize, and implement event activities that align with employer needs.
- Present proposals to attract sponsorship opportunities effectively.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the database.
- Conduct labor market research to inform student programming decisions.
- Remain knowledgeable about equity, diversity, and inclusion theories.
Essential Qualifications:
- A university degree or a combination of relevant education and experience.
- A minimum of three years of experience in sales or relationship management, particularly in organizing and executing events.
- Understanding of employment trends, recruitment processes, and career development for university students.
- Experience in managing large-scale events and fostering relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Experience in assessing learning outcomes for events.
- Ability to engage with a diverse population of students, staff, faculty, and employers.
- Experience in delivering services within a university Career Centre context.
- Strong research skills related to employer needs.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
