About the Role

As a Support Worker with Community Living Mississauga, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities to achieve their employment and volunteering goals. This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with our team to promote community inclusion, independence, and self-determinism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with local employers, non-profit organizations, and community partners to identify workforce needs and coordinate with our team to address those needs.
  • Match individuals with employment and volunteer opportunities within the community, providing on-the-job supports tailored to their strengths and support requirements.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with local employers, non-profit organizations, and community partners to promote our programs and services.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized support plans, working collaboratively with our team and individuals supported.
  • Support individuals to identify work that will help them achieve their employment and volunteering goals, and encourage self-expression through verbal and nonverbal communications.
  • Apply techniques and concepts related to non-violent crisis intervention (CPI) to ensure a safe and supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Developmental Services Worker Diploma (preferred) or equivalent experience working or volunteering with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License (Class G or G2) and access to a reliable vehicle and car insurance.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in PC computer environment, including MS Office and other software.
  • Current Standard First Aid/Level A CPR Certificate required.
