The UTM Career Centre serves as a pivotal resource for students, focusing on the enhancement of career management skills that are essential throughout their professional journeys. Our dedicated team collaborates to achieve shared objectives, each member contributing their unique expertise.
Your Role:
As a key member of our team, you will report directly to the Assistant Director of Employer Relations and Marketing. Your primary responsibility will be to provide exceptional service to employers within a designated portfolio of industries, facilitating their recruitment of our talented students. You will be expected to stay informed about industry trends and serve as a knowledgeable resource on early talent acquisition strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in daily professional interactions with employers across diverse sectors, ensuring their immediate and long-term recruitment needs are met.
- Oversee the planning and execution of major Career Centre events, including large-scale career fairs, recruitment sessions, panels, and networking opportunities.
- Develop and nurture relationships with key stakeholders and strategic partners.
- Identify and maintain connections with both potential and existing employers.
- Stay updated on best practices for creating student placement and work-integrated learning opportunities.
- Design, organize, and implement event activities effectively.
- Deliver presentations to attract sponsorship opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date database records.
- Conduct labor market research to inform student programming decisions.
- Remain knowledgeable about equity, diversity, and inclusion theories.
Essential Qualifications:
- A university degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of three years of experience in sales or relationship management, particularly in organizing and executing events.
- Familiarity with employment and labor market trends, as well as university student career development processes.
- Understanding of employer recruitment goals and campus engagement strategies.
- Experience in developing and managing large-scale events and effective stakeholder relationships.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with minimal supervision.
- Experience in assessing learning outcomes for events.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of students, staff, faculty, and employers.
- Experience in delivering services within a university Career Centre context.
- Strong research skills related to employer needs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of programs offered at the University of Toronto Mississauga.
