Transit Infrastructure Maintenance Lead

Position Overview:
This role is pivotal in overseeing the management of the Transit Building and Route team, ensuring that the maintenance of transit garage facilities and associated infrastructure aligns with the needs of users and customers.
- Lead and mentor Building and Route personnel by developing daily operational tasks, providing coaching to enhance team performance, conducting training on compliance standards, approving payroll, and resolving conflicts.
- Prepare and manage the annual budget for the maintenance of transit garage facilities.
- Collaborate with Facilities Maintenance to assess, monitor, and report on both preventative and urgent maintenance needs, engaging with internal and external contractors to ensure seamless operations.
- Oversee the scheduling of maintenance activities related to on-street and station infrastructure.
- Ensure that facility assets and operational procedures comply with relevant standards, policies, and regulations.
- Offer technical guidance on facilities, equipment, and maintenance programs to uphold corporate standards and document best practices.
- Conduct regular audits of facilities to verify that emergency protocols are established and adhere to safety and environmental regulations.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
- A diploma in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least six years of progressive experience in facility operations or maintenance, including two years in a supervisory role, preferably within a unionized environment.
- Relevant certifications in facility management are advantageous.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Knowledge of operational codes and systems pertinent to transit facilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with engineering drawings is beneficial.
- Experience with collective agreements and managing in a unionized setting.
- Understanding of project management principles, including budget oversight and customer coordination.
- Demonstrated leadership skills through effective staff training and conflict resolution.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective reporting and presentations.
- A valid driver's license is required for travel to various locations.
