The City of Mississauga is seeking a dedicated individual to take on the role of Transit Maintenance Supervisor. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations of maintenance personnel to ensure efficient vehicle inspection, repair, and upkeep.
- Set and monitor performance objectives while addressing any operational deficiencies.
- Manage resource allocation and scheduling for maintenance tasks using a computerized system.
- Implement safety and operational policies to promote a productive work environment.
- Guide and evaluate staff performance, addressing attendance and disciplinary matters as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and corporate policies.
- Participate in maintenance meetings and maintain accurate records.
- Oversee training and orientation for new maintenance staff.
- Monitor warranty claims and ensure proper handling of defective components.
- Promote a respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a certified tradesperson in a bus maintenance environment.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
- A valid Truck and Coach Technician (310T) certificate.
- A valid G Driver's License; additional endorsements are preferred.
- The ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
Additional Skills
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair standards.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in using database and computer applications.
- Understanding of safety regulations and maintenance procedures.
