Position Overview

The role of the Agricultural Products Inspection Supervisor at Great Northern Hydroponics is essential for maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety in our agricultural products. This permanent position requires a dedicated individual with a strong background in agricultural inspection and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sample Collection: Gather samples from various plants and products to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Regulatory Enforcement: Uphold government regulations and ensure that all health and safety protocols are strictly followed.
  • Standards Communication: Clearly explain required standards to agricultural personnel and provide guidance on compliance.
  • Product Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of agricultural products to identify harmful diseases, chemical residues, or infestations.
  • Record Maintenance: Keep detailed inspection records and prepare comprehensive reports on findings.
  • Laboratory Coordination: Route agricultural samples to laboratories for microbiological assessments and ingredient verification.
  • Equipment Examination: Inspect storage, handling, and transportation equipment to ensure sanitary practices are adhered to.
  • Complaint Investigation: Address consumer and trade complaints effectively and take necessary actions to resolve issues.
  • Emergency Response: Take immediate action, including halting production, if product safety is compromised.
  • Quality Assessment: Evaluate products for quality and readiness for market distribution.
Technical Skills
  • Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with presentation software, word processing, spreadsheets, and internet applications.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of import/export regulations and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points).
  • Inspection Experience: Previous experience inspecting fresh produce, fruits, vegetables, and plant products.
Work Environment

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure and tight deadlines. Candidates should possess strong attention to detail and be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
