Job Overview

The Wastewater Linear Collection team is dedicated to the upkeep of the wastewater collection infrastructure, ensuring environmental protection through effective wastewater management for the community's health and sustainability.

As a Process Engineer, you will be tasked with the design, oversight, and optimization of various processes—spanning physical, biological, and chemical methodologies—essential for the operation of the wastewater collection system. Your role will also involve managing associated projects, engaging in both internal and external meetings, and providing expert guidance to stakeholders. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing comprehensive reports.

Qualifications and Experience

- A completed four-year university degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering, tailored to the specific focus of the unit.

- A minimum of three years of experience in a process-oriented environment, preferably within the wastewater sector.

Certifications and Licenses

- Must hold a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).

- Required to obtain and maintain an Ontario MOE Class 4 Operator Certificate in the relevant process area, as determined by the employer.

Knowledge Requirements

  • Understanding of biological, physical, and chemical processes used in wastewater treatment and collection operations, including hydraulics and hydrology.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance strategies.
  • Proficiency in statistical process control methodologies.
  • Knowledge of computerized process control systems.
  • Awareness of quality management frameworks.
  • Competence in risk assessment and HAZOP analysis.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and regulations, such as the Environmental Protection Act and the Ontario Water Resource Act.
  • Insight into the roles and responsibilities of provincial government ministries and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation, including worker rights and responsibilities.
