JOB OVERVIEW

The Wastewater Linear Collection division is dedicated to the upkeep of the wastewater collection infrastructure, prioritizing environmental protection and public health through effective wastewater management.

As a Process Engineer, you will be tasked with the design, monitoring, and optimization of various processes essential for the operations of the wastewater collection system. Your role will involve managing related projects, engaging in both internal and external meetings, and providing expert advice to stakeholders. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing comprehensive reports.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

A four-year university degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering is required, tailored to the specific focus of the unit.

A minimum of three years of experience in a process-oriented environment, preferably within a wastewater system context, is essential.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

Candidates must hold a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation from Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) and are required to obtain and maintain the Ontario MOE Class 4 Operator Certificate relevant to the process area, within the timeframe set by the employer.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

  • Understanding of biological, physical, and chemical processes utilized in wastewater treatment and collection operations, including hydraulics and hydrology.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs.
  • Proficiency in statistical process control techniques.
  • Experience with computerized process control systems.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems.
  • Competence in risk assessment and HAZOP methodologies.
  • Awareness of relevant legislation and regulations, such as the Environmental Protection Act and the Ontario Water Resource Act.
  • Insight into the roles and responsibilities of provincial government ministries and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of applicable health and safety legislation, including worker rights and responsibilities.
