Position Overview
The City of Ottawa is seeking a dedicated professional to join the Wastewater Linear Collection team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective management and maintenance of the wastewater collection infrastructure, with a strong commitment to environmental protection and public health.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, monitor, and optimize various processes essential for the operation of the wastewater collection system.
- Manage and lead related projects, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory standards.
- Engage in internal and external meetings, providing expert advice and insights to stakeholders.
- Prepare comprehensive reports detailing project progress and system performance.
Qualifications
- A four-year university degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering.
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a process-oriented environment, preferably within wastewater systems.
Certifications
- Must hold a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- Required to obtain and maintain an Ontario MOE Class 4 Operator Certificate in the relevant process area.
Knowledge and Skills
- In-depth understanding of biological, physical, and chemical processes used in wastewater treatment and collection.
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and statistical process control techniques.
- Proficient in computerized process control and quality management systems.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation, including the Environmental Protection Act.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
Competencies
- Excellent project management skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong leadership and teamwork capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Proficient in data analysis and computer modeling.
