Position Title: Mineral Land Analyst

Company Overview: Pieridae Energy is a prominent Canadian natural gas enterprise based in Calgary, Alberta. The company has expanded significantly through various corporate and asset acquisitions, establishing itself as a key player in both upstream and midstream production, with a focus on conventional natural gas, NGLs, condensate, and sulphur.

Role Overview: The Mineral Land Analyst is tasked with the critical responsibility of researching, evaluating, and overseeing mineral land and contract information to bolster the company's operations while ensuring adherence to lease commitments. This position demands a thorough understanding of the oil and gas sector, outstanding research and organizational capabilities, and the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Land Administration:
    • Ensure the maintenance of precise and current land records, including deeds, titles, and surveys.
    • Assist in the resolution of land-related challenges, such as boundary disputes and landowner inquiries.
    • Demonstrate flexibility in undertaking various land-related tasks as necessary.
    • Collaborate closely with the Senior Contract Analyst and Joint Venture Representative.
  2. Lease Oversight:
    • Monitor all lease-related obligations and defaults, including offsets and freehold lease stipulations.
    • Administer and oversee oil and gas leases, contracts, and agreements.
    • Draft lease assignments, subleases, and notices regarding continuation or expiration as needed.
    • Ensure compliance with lease conditions, including rental payments, royalty calculations, and expiration timelines.
    • Coordinate, prepare, submit, and track applications for Crown and Freehold continuations; update relevant software as necessary and share information with internal and external parties.
    • Engage with negotiating Landmen and other stakeholders to communicate changes in lands, rights, interests, and obligations.
    • Act as a liaison among the company, landowners, government entities, and other stakeholders. Address inquiries and provide information to landowners and interested parties, fostering positive relationships.
  3. Title Evaluation:
    • Examine and assess land and mineral title documents.
    • Compile ownership reports and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
    • Collaborate with title attorneys and landmen to address title-related issues.
  4. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Possess knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainable practices within the oil and gas sector.
    • Ensure adherence to federal, provincial, and local regulations concerning land and mineral rights.
    • Prepare and submit necessary documentation to regulatory authorities.
    • Stay informed about legislative changes and industry best practices.
  5. Data Management:
    • Maintain the integrity of land records by updating relevant software and ensuring accurate representation of the company's mineral interests and acreage.
    • Document business processes related to land asset management by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders as appropriate.
    • Generate reports and conduct data analysis as required. Maintain comprehensive records in the relevant software.
    • Support internal audits and reviews of land records.
    • Monitor legislative changes and industry standards that affect land administration.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Graduation from an accredited Mineral Land Program or possession of a Mineral Land Designation from CALEP.
  • 5 to 15 years of experience in land administration within the Alberta oil and gas sector.
  • Strong understanding of land and mineral rights, lease agreements, and title evaluation.
  • Familiarity with federal, provincial, and local regulations governing mineral land management.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including CS Land, Abadata, GeoScout, SPIN, ETS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional organizational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Proven teamwork skills and experience in addressing the needs of multiple clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and demonstrate strong time management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing mineral and land contracts and leases.
