Through strategic corporate and asset acquisitions, the company has evolved into a significant player in both upstream and midstream sectors, focusing on the production of conventional natural gas, NGLs, condensate, and sulphur.
Role Overview: The Mineral Land Analyst is tasked with the research, analysis, and management of mineral land and contract data to bolster the company's operations while ensuring adherence to lease obligations. This position demands an in-depth understanding of the oil and gas sector, outstanding research and organizational capabilities, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:- Land Administration:
- Maintain precise and current land records, encompassing deeds, titles, and surveys.
- Assist in resolving land-related challenges, including boundary disputes and landowner inquiries.
- Be prepared to undertake various land-related tasks as necessary.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Contract Analyst and Joint Venture Representative.
- Lease Management:
- Monitor all lease-driven obligations and defaults, including offsets and freehold lease requirements.
- Administer and oversee oil and gas leases, contracts, and agreements.
- Draft lease assignments, subleases, and continuation/expiry notices as needed.
- Ensure compliance with lease stipulations, including rental payments, royalty calculations, and expiration dates.
- Coordinate, prepare, submit, and track Crown and Freehold continuation applications; update relevant systems as required and share information with internal and external stakeholders.
- Consult with negotiating Landmen and other stakeholders regarding changes in lands, rights, interests, and obligations.
- Act as a liaison between the company, landowners, government entities, and other stakeholders. Address inquiries and provide information to landowners and interested parties, fostering positive relationships with all stakeholders.
- Title Analysis:
- Review and evaluate land and mineral title documents.
- Prepare ownership reports and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
- Coordinate with title attorneys and landmen to resolve title discrepancies.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Possess knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices within the oil and gas sector.
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations concerning land and mineral rights.
- Prepare and submit necessary documentation to regulatory authorities.
- Stay informed about changes in legislation and industry best practices.
- Data Management:
- Maintain the integrity of land records by updating relevant software and ensuring accurate representation of the company's mineral interests and acreage position.
- Document business processes related to land asset management by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders as applicable.
- Generate reports and provide data analysis as required. Maintain accurate and comprehensive records in the designated software.
- Support internal audits and reviews of land records.
- Monitor changes in legislation and industry standards that impact land administration.
- Graduation from an accredited Mineral Land Program or possession of a Mineral Land Designation from CALEP.
- 5 - 15 years of experience in land administration within the Alberta oil and gas sector.
- Strong understanding of land and mineral rights, lease agreements, and title analysis.
- Familiarity with federal, provincial, and local regulations pertaining to mineral land management.
- Proficient in computer skills, including CS Land, Abadata, GeoScout, SPIN, ETS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional organizational and record-keeping abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and critical thinking capabilities.
- Demonstrated teamwork skills and experience in addressing the needs of multiple clients.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and strong time management skills.
- Proven experience in managing mineral and land contracts and leases.
