Job Summary

The Link is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Behavioral Coach to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing behavioral management and academic support to students in the classroom and community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strength-based, goal-oriented plans for students and families in collaboration with the COACH team.
  • Implement behavioral and family support components of the treatment plan, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Establish a supportive relationship with students and their families, employing a strength-based, trauma-informed, and culturally proficient approach.
  • Reinforce educational and behavioral goals in the classroom and school, under the direction of the classroom teacher.
  • Co-develop student-centered plans that consider all aspects of students' needs and communicate these throughout the COACH team.
  • Encourage socially appropriate behavior, provide opportunities for social skill development, and facilitate cultural and community networking.
  • Supervise student and group activities, both on- and off-site, and provide transportation as required.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality with clients and families.
  • Provide support to families to identify interventions related to their strengths and needs.
  • Communicate regularly with the Program Supervisor, team members, and families.
  • Employ crisis intervention strategies, including NVCI, in conjunction with other team members and service providers.
  • Complete daily behavior summary reports, documentation, data information, and frequency checklists.
  • Attend and participate in COACH team meetings and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Degree or Diploma in Human Services or related field, or a combination of education and experience in social services.
  • 2-3 years of supervised experience working with trauma-affected families and youth with pervasive behavior disorders and emotional needs.
  • Previous experience supporting children in their learning.
  • De-escalation training and ASIST certification.
  • Current First-Aid/CPR certification preferred or willingness to be trained.
  • Criminal records, child and adult abuse registry, and prior Winnipeg Child and Family Services contact checks with acceptable results in the last 3 months.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Willingness to work in a school environment.
  • Experience working in a multi-agency team is preferred.
  • Capable of performing physical duties.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
  • Positive, non-judgmental attitude and acceptance of cultural differences.
  • Knowledge of child development and family systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a caring relationship with parents and children.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with parents and children.
