Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Wellness Consultant to join our team at Seven Oaks General Hospital. As a key member of our fitness programs services, you will work closely with our members to help them achieve their health and wellness goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct health and lifestyle assessments to identify members' needs and develop personalized plans to promote healthy lifestyle changes.
  • Use motivational interviewing techniques to engage members and encourage them to take ownership of their health and wellness.
  • Develop and lead fitness programs and activities that promote socialization and challenge members to reach their goals.
  • Monitor and maintain a safe and clean environment for members to exercise and engage in physical activity.
  • Collaborate with our team to provide exceptional customer service and ensure a positive experience for all members.
Requirements
  • Two to five years of experience in health and lifestyle assessments, motivational interviewing, and training individuals with varying needs and fitness levels.
  • Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Human Performance, Exercise Science, or equivalent.
  • Master's degree in a related field is an asset.
  • Training in exercise stress testing and exercise prescription for clients with chronic disease is required.
  • Training in health behavior and lifestyle change, particularly from a self-management approach, is preferred.
  • Certified Fitness Consultant and Personal Trainer (CPT) certification is required.
  • Health Provider CPR certification is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) or equivalent certification such as ASCM Exercise Specialist Certification.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with a variety of activities and client requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to approach and work with people living with chronic conditions or disease.
  • Action-oriented and able to take the initiative in a team-based work environment.
Working Conditions

This is a fast-paced, deadline-driven role that requires the ability to work in a multi-professional team environment. The successful candidate will be required to work in a standing position for extended periods and be able to lift and move equipment as needed.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.
