About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapy Associate to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a member of our healthcare team, you will provide support to clients and families through the application of recreation intervention to support holistic functioning.

Reporting to the Manager of Rehabilitation Services, you will work under the supervision of a therapist to provide interventions to groups or individuals in inpatient, outpatient or community settings. Your expertise will be focused on addressing the leisure needs and overall plan of care for our clients.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a post-secondary diploma in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited educational institution. Your experience working with individuals with physical/cognitive disabilities is essential, as is your ability to work effectively within a team or other healthcare professionals.

You will be responsible for assisting in the plan, development, implementation and evaluation of Recreation programs. Your effective listening and communication skills, ability to motivate patients/veterans, and adaptability/flexibility are also crucial for this role.

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent full-time position with a 100% FTE, 75 hours biweekly. You can expect to work weekdays, occasional weekends and holidays, with travel required at times. Your compensation will be $25.95 hourly, with opportunities for benefits and a defined benefit pension plan.
