We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Recreation Therapy Associate to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide support to clients and families through the application of recreation intervention to promote holistic functioning.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will require:
- A post-secondary diploma with a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited educational institution
- Experience working with individuals with physical/cognitive disabilities
- Ability to work effectively within a team or other healthcare professionals
- Effective listening and communication skills; ability to motivate patients/veterans
- Adaptability/Flexibility: changing and adapting skills to changing patient populations and/or worksites
- Ability to work independently, without direct supervision
- Ability to understand medical terminology used in a clinical area, and use within the documentation
This is a permanent full-time position, with 75 hours biweekly. Shifts include weekdays, occasional weekends and Holidays. Travel may be required.
Compensation and IncentivesSuccessful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan. The hourly rate for this position is $25.95.
