Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Automation Designer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing automated systems, utilizing your expertise in mechanical design, pneumatics, electrical systems, and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering calculations related to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, force, etc., as they pertain to machine and tool designs.
  • Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness, and other critical parameters for equipment, processes, and products.
  • Create conceptual designs, working drawings, detail drawings, and bills of materials for equipment, sub-assemblies, or products using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable standards (e.g., OSHA, CE, or customer-specific requirements).
  • Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, machining techniques, finishes, hardness, and other relevant factors.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal technical and engineering staff to gather requirements and provide design solutions.
  • Liaise with vendors to obtain technical information and specifications.
  • Communicate design changes to the Project Lead or Team Lead.
  • Provide regular updates on task progress to the supervising designer.
  • Formalize and maintain drawing documentation.
  • Supervise mechanical design efforts on projects, delegating tasks to a team of individuals.
  • Organize project documentation, including quotes, project plans, correspondence, requisitions, drawings, schedules, etc.
  • Communicate time estimates and resource requirements for design tasks to the Team Lead or Project Lead.
  • Review electrical requirements with electrical designers regarding input and output devices.
  • Collaborate with programmers to review machine operations and sequences.
  • Assist fabricators, machinists, toolmakers, and electricians in debugging, integrating, resolving problems, and completing systems.
  • Determine the appropriate tools, fixtures, and equipment for fabrication and assembly of mechanical components and complete assemblies.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and hands-on experience with automation design. A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required, along with proven proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
