Job Overview

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a vital member of a skilled and enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for the design and development of top-tier automation solutions. Your role will encompass contributing to machine concepts, crafting control software, and integrating this software with electrical and mechanical systems. You will also engage in process development and oversee machine installations at various customer locations globally.

The core focus of this position will be on the development and commissioning of synchronous cammed automation equipment utilizing a B&R control platform, complemented by some Allen Bradley interfaces.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

· Create and develop software applications (PLC and/or PC based) tailored to customer and project specifications following standard ATS programming practices.

· Troubleshoot and commission control systems both at our facility during the integration phase and at customer sites during installation.

· Travel as necessary to customer and supplier locations for installation, commissioning, and training tasks.

· Select, test, and integrate hardware and software components including robots, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems, and lasers.

· Collaborate with colleagues in the control systems design department and other teams to enhance methods of integrating control technologies, aiming for improved safety, functionality, and cost efficiency.

· Ensure adherence to labor and material budgets as well as scheduled delivery timelines, working closely with project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to resolve issues and deliver a comprehensive, functional automation system.

· Conduct thorough testing of machine functionality to confirm the completeness of software programs.

· Provide detailed documentation for each project undertaken.

· Offer technical advice to customers in resolving issues.

· Deliver training to customers specific to their projects, covering machine operation, programming principles, and program structure.

Additional Information

Education:

· A post-secondary degree or diploma in engineering, specializing in mechanical, electrical, systems, or computer engineering.

Experience:

· Proficient programming, mechanical, and electrical troubleshooting skills.

· Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

· Familiarity with robotics, control systems, and machine operations, with hands-on experience being advantageous.

· A proactive individual capable of working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

A minimum of two years of experience programming in B&R Automation Studio is highly recommended. Previous experience with B&R Motion Simulation would also be beneficial, providing candidates with an exceptional opportunity to engage with one of the most significant automation innovations in recent years.
