We are seeking a highly skilled professional to take on the role of Senior Automation Designer. This position demands a strong foundation in mechanical design principles and a commitment to excellence in automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize your expertise in machine shop techniques to enhance design processes.
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of drafting standards to produce high-quality technical drawings.
- Demonstrate proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and Solid Works for creating detailed engineering plans.
- Translate conceptual ideas into practical tooling designs based on sketches or verbal instructions.
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment to achieve project goals.
- Exhibit a solid understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems to inform design decisions.
- Employ strong problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions for intricate design challenges.
- Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, to convey design concepts and modifications.
- Work autonomously with minimal oversight while managing multiple design projects.
Specific Duties:
- Conduct engineering calculations pertinent to the design of machinery and tools.
- Create and refine working drawings utilizing AutoCAD and Solid Works.
- Ensure all designs adhere to established compliance standards.
- Engage with clients and technical teams to align on project specifications.
- Relay design updates and modifications to the project lead.
- Adhere to health, safety, and quality assurance protocols throughout the design process.
- Oversee design initiatives at the project level, ensuring alignment with overall objectives.
- Coordinate documentation efforts and review technical requirements with electrical engineers and programmers.
- Select suitable components for assembly to optimize performance and reliability.
Qualifications:
- Education: A post-secondary diploma or degree in mechanical design or engineering is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years in an automation design environment is essential.
