Job Overview

The Assistant Manager is tasked with overseeing the daily operations of the fitness center to guarantee an outstanding member experience while ensuring the club's financial success. This role involves leading a team of staff members in a supportive and motivating environment, focusing on continuous training and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, onboard, and nurture a high-performing team including Fast Trackers, Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians.
  • Foster a welcoming environment for all members, prospective members, and guests, ensuring adherence to exceptional customer service standards.
  • Staff Management
    • Create staff schedules and ensure all shifts are adequately filled.
    • Set a positive example and maintain accountability for team members through training and coaching, aligning with the company's values and objectives.
    • Handle administration and processing of employee payroll on a weekly/bi-weekly basis.
    • Address employee concerns or issues effectively.
    • Manage disciplinary actions and terminations as necessary.
  • Participate in all front desk operations, including:
    • Answering phone calls courteously and assisting with various inquiries.
    • Checking members into the system.
    • Facilitating new member registrations.
    • Conducting tours for prospective members.
    • Addressing all member requests, issues, and inquiries.
  • Ensure timely opening and closing of the gym.
  • Oversee the cleanliness and upkeep of the facility, taking responsibility for a significant portion of daily cleaning tasks.
    • Ensure the safety of employees, members, and club property.
    • Identify and communicate equipment repair needs promptly.
  • Manage marketing initiatives by ensuring staff are informed and trained on all promotional activities.
  • Authorize expenditures and process refunds, including daily bank deposits.
  • Prepare all human resources-related documentation and submit to the Corporate Payroll Team.
  • Monitor and report on statistics (weekly, monthly, annually).
  • Provide backup support for any absent team member.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills, ideally within the fitness sector.
  • Strong leadership, diplomacy, and listening abilities.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Suite).
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and dedicated.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Current CPR Certification is mandatory.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Physical Requirements

  • Continuous standing and walking throughout the shift.
