Fluidigm is seeking a driven Senior Scientist in Polymer and Bioconjugate Research to become an integral part of our dynamic mass cytometry team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently develop innovative reagents for mass cytometry applications.
  • Conduct literature reviews and formulate scientific strategies.
  • Synthesize reagents through polymer synthesis and modifications, including organic and inorganic synthesis.
  • Analyze reagents using various chemical analytical techniques (e.g., GPC, NMR).
  • Link reagents to biomolecules such as antibodies.
  • Employ reagents and conjugated biomolecules for staining cells or tissues in bioanalytical assays; gather, process, and analyze bioanalytical data.
  • Ensure all work is directed towards creating practical and marketable products.
  • Document the viability of new reagents through comprehensive reports, including protocols and manufacturability assessments.
  • Support the scaling up of existing products and address performance challenges.
  • Serve as a liaison and collaborate with academic partners.
  • Prepare and submit invention disclosures to the intellectual property department.
  • Present original research and literature reviews at team meetings.
  • Write and submit research papers to peer-reviewed journals, and present findings at scientific conferences as needed.
  • Act as the primary user and trainer for key laboratory equipment.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers across various fields.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A PhD in chemistry or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical challenges.
  • Proven track record of leading and completing projects.
  • Experience in polymer synthesis and modifications; knowledge of organic and inorganic synthesis is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in various chemical and polymer characterization methods.
  • Experience in modifying biomolecules and purifying resulting bioconjugates.
  • Familiarity with advanced analytical instruments, such as ICP-MS and HPLC.
  • Knowledge of flow cytometry, suspension mass cytometry, and/or imaging mass cytometry is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Ability to interpret and create technical procedures and protocols for laboratory practices. Strong scientific writing and presentation skills are essential.
  • Understanding of Design Control, ISO 13485, and/or regulatory frameworks is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, enabling effective multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail is crucial. A collaborative mindset and team-oriented approach are required.
  • Willingness to relocate as necessary.
