Job Overview

Position: Facilities Specialist

Location: Remote work within Canada (preference for BC Interior)

As a Facilities Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing and supporting a range of service delivery facilities associated with our corporate and program operations across British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Risk Assessment initiatives in collaboration with leadership.
  • Recognize significant safety and security risks and propose effective solutions.
  • Act as the primary contact for landlords and WCG personnel regarding all facility-related matters.
  • Oversee routine and emergency maintenance, servicing, and repairs.
  • Maintain comprehensive records and schedules of WCG's facility leases.
  • Proactively identify lease renewal dates and engage with internal management regarding renewal intentions.
  • Comprehend the physical and budgetary needs of WCG facilities and programs, ensuring that staff requirements are met through effective service and vendor management.
  • Collaborate with WCG's People & Culture department and the Joint OH&S Committee to uphold standards of accessibility and compliance with OH&S regulations and safety protocols.
  • Work alongside WCG management and real estate agents to identify suitable locations for new or existing operations.
  • Manage projects related to new constructions or refurbishments, including drafting design briefs, creating project budgets, soliciting design and construction services, and overseeing procurement and cost management.
  • Review relevant legislation and regulations concerning Health & Safety in facilities, recommending and implementing necessary enhancements.
  • Ensure adherence to various regulatory standards.
  • Engage in identifying areas of inefficiency and suggest improvements.
  • Stay informed about new technologies, processes, and policies to enhance operational capabilities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in facilities management.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Commitment to ethical practices and values.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel, possessing a valid driver's license and personal vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with OH&S Committees.
  • Familiarity with managing facilities across various Canadian locations.
  • Knowledge of relevant trades such as carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
