Key Responsibilities:

  • Visit assigned brokers to promote and present Optimum Solutions TI's commercial products, generating profitable growth and retention.
  • Make risk selection decisions within your assigned level of authority and develop productive working relationships with assigned brokers.
  • Coach and mentor team members to enhance their technical underwriting knowledge and broker relationships.
  • Apply effective pricing and underwriting strategies in accordance with company guidelines and personal underwriting authority limits.
  • Maintain awareness of market trends, price levels, legal requirements, and case law applicable to commercial underwriting, and negotiate optimally to develop and maintain a profitable book of business.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have a post-secondary education or comparable previous office experience. A minimum of three years of progressive growth in underwriting commercial property and casualty mid-market accounts is required. Completion of the CIP designation with the Insurance Institute of Canada is an asset. You should possess good communication skills, efficient keyboarding, and attention to detail, as well as be a team player with a positive attitude.

Work Environment

This role is based in our North Bay office, and we support a hybrid work model that preserves the balance between working from home and in-person interactions. However, a full in-office presence is required for the initial probationary period.
