POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Manager of Budgeting and Forecasting, the Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist will take charge of generating financial reports and conducting thorough analyses. This role is crucial in providing insights that facilitate informed decision-making, assisting in the quarterly and annual budgeting processes for BC Housing's operational strategies, and developing intricate financial models.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

A Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, accounting, finance, or a related field. Significant experience in a fast-paced computerized financial accounting setting, performing complex financial analyses, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting tasks. Alternatively, a combination of education, training, and experience deemed acceptable by the employer. Completion or progress towards a CPA designation will be viewed favorably.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Extensive knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting processes within the public sector. Strong understanding of financial, accounting, and reporting systems, as well as associated processes and controls. In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Familiarity with governmental decision-making and policy formulation processes. Proficient in advanced Microsoft Excel functionalities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities. Capability to learn and navigate essential corporate enterprise applications and IT systems (e.g., JDE1 and WebFOCUS). Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy, particularly when dealing with numerical data. Initiative to work independently and proactively. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and adapt to tight deadlines with shifting priorities. Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and conceptual thinking skills. Exceptional organizational and time management capabilities. The successful candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills, as effective cross-functional collaboration is essential in this role.
