Job Description

Horizon Recruitment Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager, FP&A to join our team. This individual will play a key role in advising and making recommendations on key financial decisions, supporting the development, implementation, maintenance, evaluation, and improvement of budgeting, planning, forecasting, capital, and business cases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Participate as a member of the leadership team, providing input to the development of strategies and advising on key financial decisions.
  • Strategic Advisory: Act as a key strategic advisor to the department leadership on financial matters, identifying potential concerns and opportunities, and providing key information and concepts to facilitate discussion and decision-making.
  • Financial Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement financial strategies and business cases, standards, practices, and processes for the financial function in consultation with the Senior Director.
  • Financial Performance Management: Lead budget planning, monitor financial performance and status, and assist budget owners in making financial decisions.
  • Financial Forecasting and Planning: Lead the delivery of accurate financial forecasts and plans, ensuring all identified risks are quantified and appropriately recorded.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Execute month-end and year-end activities for closing the accounting period in a timely manner, reviewing accounting entries and transactions for completeness of financial information.
  • Financial Communication: Prepare, provide, and review regular financial performance reports, providing accurate and timely financial information to budget owners.
  • Business Case Development: Support the preparation of robust business cases, capital investment plans, and new program proposals, testing underlying assumptions and quality-assuring cost, benefits, risks, and funding solutions.
  • People Leadership: Manage directly and indirectly reporting staff, overseeing and participating in selection, coaching, mentoring, development, performance management, and all other people-management practices.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business or commerce with a focus on finance, accounting, and business management.
  • Professional Designation: Professional accounting designation (CPA) or MBA degree in finance.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years' experience at progressive levels of responsibility, involving financial planning and management in a large, complex organization.
  • Skills: Advanced knowledge of financial planning and analysis, decision support, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and related reporting.
  • Business Acumen: Strong business acumen with advanced skills in development of financial and capital plans, project management, change management.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Advanced communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to act as a strategic financial planning advisor and facilitator to leaders at all levels.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical skills, critical thinking, and ability to apply sound judgment in interpretation of analytical findings, problem-solving, evaluating courses of action, and making decisions on financial matters.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills and high-level proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, as well as the ability to learn and understand other key corporate enterprise applications and systems.
  • ERP and Business Intelligence Tools: Experience using ERP's and business intelligence tools.
  • People Leadership: Advanced people leadership skills with the ability to build and manage teams in a unionized, public sector environment.
Remuneration:
  • $130,000 - $140,000
