Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist

Job Summary
The Budget and Financial Analyst will be responsible for preparing comprehensive financial reports and analysis, providing insights to support informed decision making, and contributing to the development of the BC Housing operating plan. This role will involve preparing complex financial models, providing support in quarterly and annual budget exercises, and analyzing financial data to inform business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain financial models and reports to support business decision making
- Prepare and analyze financial data to inform budgeting and forecasting processes
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support business strategy development
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement financial plans and strategies
- Stay up-to-date with financial regulations and industry trends to ensure compliance and best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, economics, accounting, finance, or a related field
- Considerable work experience in a high-volume financial accounting environment, with a focus on financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with financial software and systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed or in-progress CPA designation
- Experience working in the public sector or with government agencies
- Knowledge of financial, accounting, and reporting systems, processes, and controls
- Ability to learn and understand mission-critical corporate enterprise applications and IT systems
